Why Bike Fitting ?
Cycling should be a comfortable experience, regardless of whether you're a professional cyclist or a casual rider. A proper bike fit can significantly enhance your cycling performance and prevent injuries. It ensures that your bike is tailored to your body's measurements and cycling style.
Our Approach to Bike Fitting
The bike fitting process is a comprehensive and personalized service that typically takes about 90 minutes, depending on your specific needs. Our goal is to help you cycle more comfortably and efficiently, and to prevent injuries related to improper bike fit. Here's what you can expect:
Understanding Your Cycling Background: We start by taking a detailed look at your cycling history, training routine, and fit goals. We also consider any past or current injuries that might affect your bike fit.
Physical Assessment: Next, we conduct a thorough physical evaluation while you cycle on a trainer. This allows us to assess your posture, biomechanics, mobility, and flexibility as they relate to your cycling performance.
Bike Adjustments: We then make precise adjustments to your bike. This includes the cleats and pedals, saddle, handlebars, and the overall setup of the cockpit. We also take detailed measurements of your body and bike. In some cases, we might recommend changes to specific bike components to improve your fit, such as stem length, saddle width, grip type, etc.
Physiotherapy Recommendations: If necessary, we discuss specific physiotherapy exercises that could benefit you. We might also start a home exercise program and schedule follow-up sessions to ensure the effectiveness of the bike fit.
Preparing for Your Bike Fitting Session
To ensure a smooth and effective bike fitting session, here's what you should bring:
Your Bike: Please bring your bike in a clean condition and in good working order. Make sure that no parts of the bike are seized or stuck (for example, the saddle, handlebar, or bolts). Please remove any bike bags or panniers.
Cycling Attire and Footwear: Wear your usual cycling shorts, socks and shoes. If bringing cleats, please ensure that the screws are not stuck and have been cleaned.
Remember, the goal of a bike fitting session is to make your ride as comfortable and efficient as possible. So, it's important to replicate your usual riding conditions as closely as possible.
Is Bike Fitting Covered By My Insurance?
Most extended health insurance plans cover physiotherapy services. A bike fitting includes the typical physiotherapy assessment of alignment, flexibility, mobility and the prescription of therapeutic exercises. You may also be able to use your health spending account towards a bike fitting session.
